Wine of the Week – Beckmen Vineyards – 2008 Cuvée Le Bec

Each week I like to choose a new wine to introduce to our fans. These wines vary by region, by varietal and even by price. I don’t think cost and value are necessarily related. So I like to focus on wines I have experienced on my travels and I think our fans will enjoy trying. salut!

Beckmen Vineyards Label

This wine has deservedly earned a reputation as one of the great marriages of quality and value in California winemaking, consistently earning rave reviews with nods to its exceptional pricing. In fact the 2007 vintage of this wine earned 90 points from Robert Parker, who hailed it as “…one of the finest values in the Central Coast…” “…the type of wine that California can do so well, but rarely does…” and “…a sexy, delicious concoction….” With its nose of blueberry, grenadine, licorice, lavender and smoke, and its sweet tannins and opulent Grenache-infused fruit flavors, we think the 2008 vintage is our best Cuvée Le Bec to date.
